Sound
Sources.
Recorded material for the Toneveld machines and your own work. Not sample libraries — starting points. Small collections, recorded with care, chosen for what they do when they move through a machine.
Recorded with a contact microphone placed directly on the body and frame of a piano — not the strings, not the room, but the wood itself. The result is sound with weight and proximity: felt mechanism, pedal movement, the resonance of the case when a key is held. Material that reveals itself slowly when passed through granular or convolution processing.
Electric guitar recorded through the Boss DP-4+ — riffs, sustained notes and shorter fragments, with the particular compression and colour the unit adds. Not clean, not polished. The recordings carry the character of the machine they passed through. Feed them into a granular processor and they stop being guitar entirely, which is exactly the point.
Recordings made inside — rooms with their particular acoustics, objects struck and scraped, the sounds that exist in a space before music enters it. Interior Vol.1 is the first in an ongoing collection. The material works as texture, as impulse response, or simply as sound worth listening to on its own terms. Vol.2 is in progress.
