A four-head tape machine looper

Moth is for files and live input. Four independently moving playback heads turn a simple loop into drift, echo, chorus and unstable repetition. Speed, offset, wow, flutter and tape wear create motion that can remain subtle or slowly pull the source apart.

Controls

gain

Sets the level of the live input before it reaches the tape loop.

Volume

Sets the level of the selected tape head or output stage.

Speed

Changes playback speed and pitch, like changing tape-machine speed.

Crossfade

Smooths the loop boundary and blends transitions between repeated sections.

Offset

Moves the selected head to a different position on the tape loop.

Wow

Adds slow, uneven pitch movement caused by mechanical drift.

Flutter

Adds faster pitch instability and fine tape vibration.

Chorus

Widens the sound through small moving differences between playback voices.

Rate

Sets the speed of the modulation movement.

Reverb

Adds space after the tape processing.

LoFi

Reduces clarity and bandwidth to suggest worn or limited tape reproduction.
