Octopus is an eight-track drum machine with a 24-step sequencer, built entirely from waveforms. There are no samples: every sound is synthesised in the browser. Pure Analog. Each slot has its own controls. BD 1 moves from a soft, fluffy sine-wave pulse to a bright techno kick; BD 2 is modelled after the classic 808 bass drum. Bass is the more tonal voice, while the remaining drum sounds follow their names. Octopus also includes a mixer with mute and volume for every track, swing, and five preset slots.
TransportPlay starts or stops the sequencer. BPM sets the tempo. Swing delays alternating steps for a looser groove. Var Beat creates a new pattern while preserving the current instrument sounds. Rnd Instr randomizes the drum voices. Clear removes all programmed steps.
StepsClick a step to switch it on or off. Accented steps play harder. Select a track tab to edit its sequence and synthesis controls. Mute silences the selected track without deleting its pattern.
KickTune sets the fundamental pitch. Decay controls the tail length. Body shapes the low-frequency weight. Sweep sets the pitch-envelope drop. Click adds the initial transient. Drive adds saturation and density.
Kick 2Tune sets the pitch of the deeper second kick. Decay controls its boom. Sweep changes the strength of the pitch fall. Click adds attack definition.
BassTune sets the bass oscillator pitch. Decay controls note length. Cutoff darkens or opens the bass tone.
SnareTune sets the body pitch. Snap blends in the noise component. Decay sets the noise tail. Body controls the tonal core. Crack adds a sharper transient.
Closed HatTune shifts the metallic oscillator cluster. Decay sets the short tail. Low Pass softens the high end. Phaser adds moving comb-like colour.
Open HatTune shifts the metallic spectrum. Decay controls how long the hat remains open.
TomTune sets the drum pitch. Decay controls the resonance length.
MixerChannel faders set the level of each voice. Reverb sends the complete machine into the shared space. Master controls the final output volume.
PresetsSave stores the current machine state in a preset slot. Load recalls it. Save File exports the complete state as JSON; Load File restores it later.
